Generally, when we hear the name of Prana-Vayu (the vital breath), our mind starts imagining gas. Similarly, when we hear the name of yoga, the image of asanas (postures) starts to form in our minds.
The mind believes that there is a gas in the body that moves upwards, and there is also a gas that moves downwards.
Although in modern times, Ayurvedic medicine also emphasizes on such imaginative concepts, in reality, it is necessary to understand it with great subtlety.
This is a kind of consciousness that is given and taken by yogis and sages.
As the states of the mind change, tension arises at certain fundamental points in the body, causing imbalance in the Udaan and Apaan Vayu (upward and downward breath).
In this workshop, there will be a serious discussion on Apaan and Udaan Vayu, along with exploring how to address them through yoga and pranayama.
Topics covered in the workshop:
What is Apaan and Udaan Vayu?
What is the root cause of Apaan and Udaan Vayu?
What are the remedies for Apaan and Udaan Vayu?
How can solutions be derived through yoga and pranayama?
What should be the ideal diet?
Udaan Vayu: It is the upward-moving vital breath that primarily controls vertical movements. Udaan Vayu is associated with enthusiasm, self-confidence, stimulation, brightness in the eyes, strength at a higher level of the earth element, and strength in the abdomen and throat.
It not only controls the upper portion of the navel but also helps to keep thoughts from becoming agitated and suppressed. When viewed with subtle perception, the origin of this breath arises from the state of mind where the process of constant imaginative creation is taking place.
Based on my personal experience, when the mind intensifies its ability to create forms, colours, and shapes through the medium of the eyes, the emergence of Udaan Vayu occurs. Therefore, I strongly recommend discussing this breath with seriousness.
In today's modern age, as the importance of sensory organs, especially the eyes, continues to increase, the issue of increasing Udaan Vayu becomes more prominent. In this workshop, we will discuss how to control this breath through yoga and pranayama.
